M6 is exiting Stéphane Plaza Immobilier and betting on Sixième Avenue

M6 will no longer be a shareholder in the Stéphane Plaza Immobilier network by the end of July 2026. The group announces a partial split of its real estate activities in order to clearly separate two now distinct networks: Stéphane Plaza Immobilier, which will continue its activity in a new company, and Sixième Avenue, on which M6 intends to concentrate its efforts.

Stéphane Plaza Immobilier will continue to exist with Stéphane Plaza at its head, but outside the M6 shareholder structure. The proposed split must be submitted to a vote at the general meeting scheduled for the end of July 2026.

Sixth Avenue becomes M6's priority

M6 will strengthen its position in Sixième Avenue, a real estate network launched in April 2025. The group will hold a 68% stake, alongside the two original co-founders, franchise specialists. The network will be led by Gilles Charron, its current president. M6 presents Sixième Avenue as its new flagship real estate brand, with a separate identity, its own shareholders, and a distinct positioning from Stéphane Plaza Immobilier.

An announcement the day after the appeal trial

This decision follows the appeal trial of Stéphane Plaza, who was retried yesterday for domestic violence. The Paris Court of Appeal's decision will be handed down on September 18, 2026. In the first instance, Stéphane Plaza was sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment for domestic violence, a conviction he appealed. Before the Court of Appeal, a more lenient sentence of six months' imprisonment, suspended, was requested.

The Stéphane Plaza Real Estate brand is weakened

The conviction of Stéphane Plaza severely damaged the image of the Stéphane Plaza Immobilier network and impacted its business. The launch of Sixième Avenue, combined with departures within the SPI network, led to a significant decrease in the number of franchisees. As a result, SPF Franchise, the M6 real estate subsidiary that owned Stéphane Plaza Immobilier, recorded a €35,5 million impairment charge related to the SPI brand in its 2025 annual report.

Two networks, two trajectories

With this split, M6 formalizes the separation between two brands with different trajectories. On one hand, Stéphane Plaza Immobilier will continue its operations as an independent entity, led by Stéphane Plaza. On the other, Sixième Avenue becomes the media group's primary real estate arm. M6 intends to accelerate the development of Sixième Avenue and establish it as its next-generation real estate brand, designed to reflect the evolving relationship the French have with their homes.
