Following his work on The Weakest Link , Olivier Minne is taking the helm of a new game show on M6. On Wednesday, September 2nd at 21:10 pm, the channel will broadcast What's Your Brain Age?, a family quiz show focused on cognitive abilities. One hundred contestants and four celebrities will attempt to determine their "brain age" through 40 questions covering topics such as memory, logic, observation, concentration, and speed. Olivier Minne will be joined by Dr. Steven Laureys, neurologist and director of GIGA Consciousness at the University of Liège, who will provide scientific insights throughout the program.
100 candidates facing 40 questions
The premise is based on a simple question: does our brain age necessarily correspond to the age on our ID card? To try and answer this, the 100 contestants on set will have to answer a series of 40 questions. The program was developed using data collected from 1,000 French people aged 20 to 80. The answers and performance of these participants were used to calibrate the different questions and associate them with specific age groups. Observation, memory, logic, concentration, and speed will all be assessed to determine each contestant's score.
Three rounds to lower his "brain age"
The difficulty will increase throughout the show. The first round will focus on the 80-60 age group and will notably ask the question: are seniors still "in the know"? The second round will be for the 60-40 age group, followed by a third round for the 40-24 age group. The goal will be to continue improving to achieve the lowest possible brain age. Viewers can also participate from home and compare their performance with that of the contestants on set.
Julie Pietri, Sandrine Quétier, Alex Vizorek and Lola Dubini take up the challenge
Four personalities from different generations will participate in the experiment. Julie Pietri, a prominent figure in French music from the 1980s, will compete against Sandrine Quétier, a television presenter and actress. Comedian and radio host Alex Vizorek will also be involved, as will singer and comedian Lola Dubini. Their results will be compared with those of the general public, allowing for a comparison of performance across different generations.
Neurologist Steven Laureys alongside Olivier Minne
Dr. Steven Laureys will join Olivier Minne during the program. A neurologist, he directs GIGA Consciousness at the University of Liège and will discuss brain function and habits that can help preserve its capabilities. His message: "Take care of your brain." The specialist will emphasize the importance of intellectual activity and sleep. "Learning and playing are essential for maintaining our brain's flexibility ," he explains in the program's introduction. He also highlights the role of rest: "Sleeping gives our brain a true cerebral detox."
A great game designed for all generations
With "How Old Is Your Brain?" , M6 aims to offer a program in which children, parents, and grandparents can participate simultaneously. The challenges will test memory, logic, observation skills, and reaction time. The program highlights that performance varies depending on the abilities tested and age, and it capitalizes on these differences to create a competitive atmosphere. The show also promotes the idea that cognitive abilities are not fixed and can be maintained through learning, curiosity, and intellectual stimulation. Scheduled to run for 120 minutes, " How Old Is Your Brain?" will air on Wednesday, September 2nd at 21:10 PM on M6 and will also be available on M6+.
