Bulgaria won the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 on Saturday night in Vienna, Austria. Represented by DARA and their song "Bagaranga," they triumphed with 516 points, securing their first ever victory in the competition.
Bulgaria won both the jury vote and the public vote, with 204 points from the juries and 312 points from the televote.
DARA offers her country its first trophy
This victory marks a significant moment for Bulgaria, which joined Eurovision in 2005 but had never won the contest. DARA succeeds Austria's JJ, the 2025 winner, at this 70th edition held at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna.
Israel second, Romania completes the podium
Behind Bulgaria, Israel finished in second place with 343 points thanks to Noam Bettan and his song "Michelle". The Israeli contestant notably received 220 points from the public and 123 points from the juries.
Romania completes the podium with Alexandra Căpitănescu and her song "Choke Me", credited with 296 points.
Australia and Italy in the Top 5
The rest of the Top 5 is occupied by Australia, fourth with Delta Goodrem and "Eclipse" with 287 points, then by Italy, fifth with Sal Da Vinci and "Per Sempre Sì" with 281 points.
Finland, despite being cited among the favorites before the final, ultimately finished sixth.
France misses out on the Top 10
France, represented by Monroe with the song "Regarde!", finished in 11th place with 158 points.
She therefore misses out on the Top 10 and does worse than Louane, who came in 7th in 2025, and Barbara Pravi, who came second in 2021 with "Voilà".
An edition marked by tensions surrounding Israel
This 2026 edition was also marked by a tense political context surrounding Israel's participation.
Five countries – Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland – had chosen not to participate in the contest. The EBU had also introduced new voting rules, including a limit of 10 votes per person, down from 20 previously.
