Revived in the fall of 2025 after a 16-year hiatus, the iconic show created by Jean-Luc Delarue will not be renewed. RMC Life will broadcast the last episodes already recorded, but will not commission new ones. The reason: ratings that remained far below the channel's objectives.
Seven episodes, only 120,000 viewers on average
The return of It is discussed The show was launched on October 15, 2025, on RMC Life, hosted by Estelle Denis. This new version retained the program's core elements: in-depth reports on social issues, followed by interviews and studio discussions. Despite the brand's established reputation and a set designed to replicate the original show, the seven episodes broadcast averaged 120,000 viewers, representing a 0,7% audience share. The first episode, focusing on disappearances and parental abductions, attracted 123,000 viewers, also with a 0,7% audience share. The second episode saw a temporary increase to 231,000 viewers and a 1,4% audience share, but this rise was not sustained.
The replay didn't save the show
Delayed viewings failed to improve the results. Within seven days, each episode gained an average of only 8,000 additional viewers. The episode broadcast on November 19, 2025, about "atypical families," did not attract any additional viewers through replay. Stéphane Sallé de Chou, head of the RMC channels, acknowledges that the program did not meet its objectives. He commends the work of the teams but believes the topics addressed were too anxiety-inducing in an already challenging context. He also states that a greater emphasis on entertainment would have distorted the identity of "Ça se discute" (Let's Discuss It).
No new issues will be ordered
RMC Life has therefore decided to end production of the show. The remaining unaired episodes will be broadcast before the end of the year, but no new episodes will be commissioned. This decision brings to a close a relaunch that was touted as one of the flagship programs of RMC Life's new identity, the channel that replaced Chérie 25 in October 2025.
A cult program that returned 16 years after its cancellation
Created in 1994 and presented by Jean-Luc Delarue on France 2, It is discussed The show had been on the air for fifteen seasons before ending in 2009 due to declining ratings. The magazine had made its mark on French television with its personal stories, debates, and segments focusing on personal life, family, and major social issues. For its return, RMC Life entrusted the program to Estelle Denis and opted for a prime-time slot. The reports, lasting approximately 90 minutes, were followed by discussions with the guests on set. A segment titled "Where Are They Now?" was also intended to reconnect with some participants from the Jean-Luc Delarue era. Less than a year after its launch, this new version failed to establish the brand with RMC Life's audience. The last episodes already filmed will be the final episodes of It is discussed on the chain.
