But behind the scenes, the legal proceedings continue.
A shot during the commercial break
The events date back to Friday, March 20th. The program All beautiful, all new – WeekendThe show, hosted by Cyril Hanouna on W9, was then on a commercial break. A few minutes earlier, a tense exchange had taken place between Fabien Lecœuvre and Stéphane Tapie on air. Off-camera, Stéphane Tapie approached Fabien Lecœuvre and punched him in the face. The commentator fell to the ground, stunned, before being helped by others present on set. Security then escorted Stéphane Tapie towards the exit.
Head trauma and hospitalization
Fabien Lecœuvre did not emerge unscathed from the altercation. Following the incident, he was hospitalized, and a head injury was suspected. His lawyer also reported migraines, dizziness, and nausea. Upon returning to the airwaves, Fabien Lecœuvre also spoke of still-visible physical marks, including a hematoma around his eye and neck pain requiring physical therapy.
Apologies on camera
A few days after the incident, Stéphane Tapie publicly apologized in a video broadcast on W9. He acknowledged his violent act, without attempting to justify it. Fabien Lecœuvre accepted the apology on air, while emphasizing the seriousness of the events. On April 22, the two men appeared together on the set of a television program. The Great FeastStill on W9, Stéphane Tapie once again expressed his regrets. Fabien Lecœuvre replied that he forgave him, but that he hadn't forgotten.
Reconciliation has not closed the case
Despite this rather unconvincing display of appeasement, intended to protect the image of Cyril Hanouna's show, Fabien Lecœuvre had already indicated his intention to file a complaint. He explained that this was not a personal vendetta, but a necessary step given the seriousness of the assault and its potential physical consequences. His lawyer mentioned filing a civil suit, in conjunction with the employers involved, notably H2O, the production company, and W9.
Stéphane Tapie now targeted by the proceedings
The complaint targets Stéphane Tapie for the events that occurred during the commercial break. At this stage, the proceedings stem from a physical altercation publicly acknowledged by Tapie in his apology. Fabien Lecœuvre, for his part, maintains the two-pronged approach he has adopted from the outset: accepting the apology on a personal level, but allowing the justice system to handle the facts.
