OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, announced on Monday a massive partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) involving a contract estimated at 38 billionmarking a major step in the company's expansion strategy following its recent internal restructuring.
According to several sources close to the matter, this agreement will give OpenAI priority access to hundreds of thousands of Nvidia chips hosted on Amazon's cloud infrastructure, this strengthens its ability to train next-generation artificial intelligence models. This collaboration aims to diversify OpenAI's computing resources, which have long been concentrated on Microsoft Azure, its long-standing partner.
The company plans to spend approximately $1,4 trillion over several years in computing power and storage services, an unprecedented amount in the AI sector.
