Severely burned in the Crans-Montana fire on the night of December 31st to January 1st, Tahirys Dos Santos has reached a pivotal moment in his young career. The 19-year-old defender, who suffered burns to 30% of his body, has signed his first professional contract with FC Metz, his boyhood club.
An important milestone for the young Metz defender
The official announcement came just a few months after the tragedy in Switzerland. The Lorraine club confirmed that Tahirys Dos Santos had signed his first professional contract, a one-year deal with two optional years, which ties him to FC Metz until June 2027.
Suffering burns to 30% of his body during the Crans-Montana fire
At the time of the tragedy, the young left-back had been seriously injured in the fire at the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana. He had suffered burns to 30% of his body surface area, particularly to his head, arms and torso, before undergoing several weeks of treatment.
A gradual return to the field
After his hospitalization, Tahirys Dos Santos gradually resumed training, first individually, then with Metz's reserve team. He even returned to competition with the reserve team in National 3, a sign of his rapid recovery despite the severity of his injuries.
A strong signature, both in sporting and symbolic terms.
This signing rewards a journey marked both by training at FC Metz and by a terrible tragedy at the very beginning of 2026. At 19 years old, Tahirys Dos Santos thus takes the step of his first professional contract, with a perspective now clearly turned towards the rest of his career.
