Thomas Partey contests new rape allegations in British court

Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey pleaded not guilty to two new rape charges during a hearing Monday at Southwark Crown Court in London. The alleged incidents date back to December 2020 and add to the legal proceedings already underway against him.

These new charges are in addition to those announced in 2025, relating to five rape charges and one sexual assault charge linked to alleged incidents between 2021 and 2022. In total, the 32-year-old player now contests seven rape charges and one sexual assault charge involving four complainants.

A single trial is being considered.

British justice has decided to consolidate all charges into a single proceeding, which could postpone the start of the trial until 2027. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 14 to set the next steps in the judicial timetable.

Former Arsenal player Thomas Partey, now at Villarreal, remains free on bail, with a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the women who filed the complaint. His entourage indicates that he continues to cooperate with the authorities while maintaining his innocence.
