The celebration of the Champions League victory had barely ended when the party could have turned into a nightmare for Fabian Ruiz. According to our colleagues at Le ParisienLate yesterday morning, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder was the target of an attempted burglary at his residence in the west of Paris. Two minors were arrested at the scene while searching his home, according to a police source.
Caught red-handed
The incident occurred shortly before noon, in the wake of a weekend of festivities between PSG players and supporters. The Spanish player's home was found completely ransacked, with the two youths having taken the time to search every room. However, their intrusion was brought to a halt by a swift intervention, which led to their arrest in the act.
A black series among Parisian players
Fabian Ruiz isn't the first member of the Parisian squad to be the victim of this type of attack. In March, defender Willian Pacho had his home burglarized while away with the Ecuadorian national team. Earlier in 2021, the homes of Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos's parents were simultaneously burglarized. The Brazilian's father was even assaulted. Monday's incident is the latest in a string of break-ins targeting PSG players. While legal penalties have been harsh in the past—up to seven years in prison—incidents continue to increase, confirming the continued vulnerability of certain elite athletes.
