According to a CSA Institute survey published on April 17, 71% of French people support the reintroduction of border controls. This poll, conducted for CNews, Europe 1, and Le Journal du Dimanche, demonstrates majority support for this measure in the context of the immigration debate.
This level of support, however, remains lower than in a previous study conducted in September 2024, where 77% of respondents expressed support. This change reflects a slight shift in public opinion on this issue.
A still predominantly favorable opinion
The reintroduction of border controls, a topic frequently discussed in public debate, is part of broader discussions on managing migration flows and security. This measure is notably linked to a questioning of the rules of free movement within the Schengen Area.
Despite this decline, the survey confirms that the idea continues to garner significant support among the population. The results reflect persistent expectations regarding border control, even if positions have shifted slightly over time.
