Yesterday afternoon, a 28-year-old woman was violently attacked in front of a supermarket in the city centre of Hayange, in Moselle. According to information reported by The Republican Lorrain, the attacker, a man, stabbed him fourteen times.
The victim was rushed to hospital and is in critical condition, with life-threatening injuries. A passerby who tried to intervene was also injured in the side, but his life is not in danger.
According to information gathered by France Bleu Lorraine Nord, the mayor of the town, Fabien Engelmann, revealed that the attacker is the victim's ex-partner. Aged around forty, he is actively sought by the police.
The mayor specified that the individual, of Romanian nationality, was subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). The young woman had filed a complaint against her ex-partner last month, as reported by France 3 Grand Est.
"Once again, this tragedy illustrates the disastrous consequences of mass immigration and the state's inability to enforce its own laws. This individual had no place on our territory. This tragedy should have been avoided," Fabien Engelmann said in a statement, stressing that the attacker has a "long criminal record."
