A change in the weather is looming this Friday, March 28, primarily in the west and northwest of France. A disturbance is sweeping through these regions, with light rain forecast between Brittany and Pas-de-Calais. Conversely, the east and southeast will continue to enjoy dry and bright weather, driven by the mistral and tramontane winds.
Morning disturbance in the west, frost in the east
From morning, a marked chill sets in in the east, with white frost observed in the countryside of Burgundy-Franche-Comté and the Grand Est. Meanwhile, rain arrives in Brittany and Lower Normandy, carried by a west to southwest wind reaching 50 km/h on the coasts. The mistral and tramontane winds are already blowing strongly, reaching 70 km/h around Roussillon.
In the afternoon, the rain will move towards the Pays de la Loire, Upper Normandy, and western Paris, before reaching the northern Centre-Val de Loire and Hauts-de-France regions. Clear spells will quickly return to Brittany, while the southeast remains bathed in sunshine. Gusts will reach 80 km/h around the Gulf of Lion.
By evening, the disturbance will stretch from the southwest to the Belgian border, bringing rain and sometimes thunderstorms to Aquitaine. Behind it, the sky will clear in the northwest, while the weather will remain dry in Alsace, the Alps, and the Mediterranean coast. The weekend is expected to be milder, despite some localized showers on Saturday in the Pyrenees and the Grand Est, which could fall as snow at altitudes of 1000 meters and above.
