Wildfires in the Southwest: SNCF extends disruptions until August 2nd

SNCF has announced that it will maintain the disruption of some of its rail services in southwestern France until Sunday, August 2nd, due to the major wildfires affecting the Gironde and Landes regions. TGV trains from Paris will continue to stop in Bordeaux, with the exception of services to Toulouse, while several services departing from the Aquitaine capital will remain suspended for safety reasons.

The rail network manager has not yet received authorization to access certain infrastructure located in the areas affected by the fires. Before any resumption of traffic, inspections will need to be carried out to verify the condition of the tracks, electrical installations, and signaling equipment exposed to flames or intense heat.

An enhanced offer to limit the impact on travelers

Rail services between Bordeaux, Arcachon, Hendaye, and Tarbes via Dax remain suspended, as do several TER regional train services in the area between Bordeaux, Arcachon, and Morcenx. The night train from Paris to Tarbes will also not run during this period.

To limit disruptions during the peak holiday travel period, SNCF will add more than 9,000 seats between Friday and Sunday. Two additional daily round trips will be offered between Paris and Tarbes via Toulouse, while the capacity of Intercités and TER regional trains serving the Basque Country will be increased. Passengers affected by cancellations will be able to change or cancel their tickets free of charge, an exceptional measure that the government has extended until August 4.
