In Aisne, hundreds of people gathered for a final tribute to Chloé

Hundreds of people attended the funeral on Friday of Chloé, the 14-year-old schoolgirl who was stabbed to death while walking to school in the Aisne region. The emotion was palpable in Fère-en-Tardenois, where residents, relatives, classmates, and members of the public gathered in the Sainte-Macre church to pay their final respects to the teenager.

Since the tragedy on May 6, the small town has been living in shock and disbelief. Flowers, candles, and messages were left in front of the victim's school, while a psychological support unit was set up to assist students and teachers deeply affected by the murder.

Chloé's body was found severely injured in the street after multiple stab wounds. Before dying, the young girl reportedly managed to identify her alleged attacker. A 23-year-old man was arrested a few hours later and subsequently charged with the murder of a minor under 15 and the rape of a minor.

The suspect admitted to inflicting the blows but denied any intent to kill. According to several elements of the investigation, he had been in a relationship with the teenager despite their significant age difference. The investigation is continuing to determine the precise circumstances of the attack.
