Plane crash near Nancy: eleven dead, no casualties on the ground

A civilian aircraft crashed late Sunday morning in Tomblaine, a suburb of Nancy in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department. According to the prefect, the death toll has risen to eleven. No injuries have been reported on the ground.

The victims are all those on board the aircraft: the pilot, five instructors, and five people who were about to experience a tandem parachute jump. The precise circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.

Following the tragedy, the prefect activated the departmental operations center (COD). The Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, is expected on site to monitor the situation and the initial investigations.
