King Charles III was forced to cancel several official engagements after being briefly hospitalized due to side effects from his cancer treatment. Buckingham Palace confirmed on Thursday, March 27, that the 76-year-old sovereign had undergone a period of medical observation following an episode deemed temporary but requiring rest.
Apologies to the public
"His Majesty wishes to apologize to anyone who may be inconvenienced or disappointed by this situation," the palace said in a statement. Charles III revealed his diagnosis in February 2024 and then began a treatment plan, the precise nature of which remains confidential. The king, however, continues to closely monitor the affairs of the kingdom, despite a reduced schedule.
