The National Rally-led municipality of Carpentras has decided to cut the annual subsidy granted to the Vaucluse Family Planning Association. The measure was adopted during the municipal council meeting dedicated to voting on subsidies allocated to local associations. While the amount affected remains limited to €3.000, the decision has sparked strong reactions within the feminist association, which sees it as primarily an ideological choice.

According to information reported by Ici Vaucluse, this subsidy, granted for many years, will no longer be included among the aid provided by the city. The Family Planning Association, a long-standing advocate for women's rights, access to contraception, voluntary termination of pregnancy, and sex and relationship education, believes that this elimination goes far beyond a simple budgetary issue.

An openly acknowledged ideological clash

For Anne-Lise Nadaud, president of the Vaucluse branch of the French Family Planning Association, this decision reflects a profound disagreement between the values ​​upheld by the association and those championed by the new municipal majority. She states that she is not surprised by this direction, explaining that the arrival of the National Rally (RN) at the head of the city had already raised concerns about the renewal of this financial aid.

The association points out that the €3.000 cut represents a modest sum compared to the municipality's overall budget. However, it emphasizes the symbolic significance of this decision, believing it sends a political signal to organizations committed to prevention, community education, and support for often vulnerable or marginalized populations.

However, on its website, it justifies its policy of reducing certain subsidies by citing the town's financial situation. The municipal majority states that it inherited a difficult budgetary situation that necessitates more rigorous management of public spending and a reassessment of subsidies granted to associations.
