Knife attack at a Swiss train station: three injured near Zurich

A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning after attacking several people with a knife at the Winterthur train station, northeast of Zurich. Zurich cantonal police reported that three people were injured in the attack.

The incident occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. at this major Swiss train station. The victims, all Swiss nationals aged 28, 43, and 52, were taken to the hospital. Authorities have not yet released information on the severity of their injuries.

An investigation has been opened into the motives.

The suspect, described as a 31-year-old Swiss national, was quickly subdued and arrested by police. The police stated that the motives for the attack remained unknown and were under investigation.

Several videos circulating on social media and reported by Swiss media outlets show a man running in front of the train station, shouting "Allahu Akbar" at the time of the incident. A significant police and emergency response was deployed around the Winterthur train station, located in Winterthur, Switzerland's sixth-largest city, about 25 kilometers from Zurich.
