Orange and Sosh experienced a major mobile outage in France on Monday. The disruptions began early in the morning, around 6 a.m., with difficulties accessing the mobile network, particularly 4G and 5G. Subscribers reported impossible, unstable, or severely degraded connections, sometimes even when their phones still showed a signal.
A confirmed technical incident
Orange has acknowledged a technical incident affecting some of its mobile services. The disruptions impacted 4G, 5G, international roaming, and certain business services. Sosh customers were also affected, as the brand uses Orange's mobile network.
A nationwide, but uneven, blackout
The outage did not affect all subscribers in the same way. Some customers lost access to mobile data, while others experienced intermittent connection difficulties. Reports increased throughout the morning, peaking before 9 a.m. with over 1,000 reports registered on the monitoring platforms at that time.
Companies are also affected
The incident was not limited to individuals. Orange indicated that some business services were also disrupted. Business lines, mobile usage while traveling, and services dependent on a 4G or 5G connection may therefore have been affected during the morning.
A return to normalcy announced
In the early afternoon, Orange announced a complete return to normal for its 4G and 5G networks. The operator specified that the disruptions had affected some residential and business customers, with occasional connection difficulties, but no total service outages.
Orange is referring to a technical incident but has not provided a detailed explanation for the cause of the outage. No confirmed evidence suggests a cyberattack, a maintenance failure, or a specific equipment malfunction. At this stage, the only established fact is a disruption to part of the Orange mobile network, which has now been announced as resolved.
