Patrick Bruel is taking legal action. The singer has filed a complaint for breach of confidentiality of the investigation after Paris Match published extensive excerpts from his police custody interview in June 2026. His lawyers had announced this move a few days earlier after several details of the case file were leaked to the press.

The magazine had revealed some of the answers Patrick Bruel gave to police during his 48 hours in custody. The singer was questioned about accusations from several women and confronted with various testimonies included in the case file. These transcripts, normally contained within the judicial file, were thus widely disseminated in the press.

His 48-hour hearing ended up in the press

Patrick Bruel was taken into custody on June 8th as part of an investigation into allegations of sexual assault . Investigators questioned him about incidents involving 13 alleged victims. His detention was extended by 24 hours to allow for further questioning regarding the various accusations.

In early September, Paris Match published extensive excerpts from this interview. Patrick Bruel answers police questions about several women who have accused him, sometimes claiming not to remember the encounters or situations described to him. The content of these exchanges, previously reserved for the investigation, was thus made public.

"A clear violation of the confidentiality of the investigation"

As soon as this information was published, Fanny Colin, one of Patrick Bruel's lawyers, strongly denounced the leak. She spoke of a "clear violation of the confidentiality of the investigation" and described the situation as "scandalous".

The defense immediately announced its intention to take legal action. This complaint now aims to determine how evidence from the case file, particularly transcripts of hearings, could have left the proceedings before being made public.

Article 11 of the Code of Criminal Procedure stipulates that the proceedings during the investigation and preliminary inquiry are confidential and that those involved are bound by professional secrecy. The central question in these new proceedings will therefore be the origin of the document leak. The defense had already pointed to the circulation of the official reports.

Fanny Colin also stated that she did not believe the leak originated from the magistrates or investigators. She then directly addressed the circulation of the transcripts between the various lawyers involved in the proceedings.

This controversy first gained momentum with the revelation of Helena Noguerra 's testimony . The singer and actress was questioned by police about events she claims to have suffered in the 2000s . She publicly protested after her identity and testimony were made public, despite having requested that it remain confidential.

A new procedure at the heart of an already very complex legal case

This complaint comes at a time when Patrick Bruel is himself at the center of several legal proceedings. After his 48 hours in police custody, the singer was brought before the judges, while the prosecution requested that he be formally charged and placed in pretrial detention.

He was eventually formally charged in several sexual assault cases and placed under judicial supervision. He denies the accusations against him. Two new complaints of rape and attempted rape were filed after his indictment, while other women have since given statements to investigators.

The legal battle has now entered a new phase. Following the release of his hearing transcript and several confidential elements of the case file, Patrick Bruel is now asking the courts to investigate the source of the leaks that allowed documents from the proceedings to appear in the press.
