The Cerballiance network of medical biology laboratories announced that it was the victim of a cyberattack at the end of March, which allowed unauthorized access to the personal data of some patients. The incident, which occurred via a server hosted by an IT service provider, affected this group, which comprises approximately 700 laboratories in France.
The potentially compromised data includes personal information, login credentials, test reports, and social security numbers. The number of people affected has not yet been specified.
Enhanced security measures following the incident
The company states that it immediately alerted the relevant authorities, informed the patients concerned and took measures to secure access, including disabling certain passwords and shutting down the server at the source of the breach.
No fraudulent use of data has been detected so far, but affected patients are advised to remain vigilant. Cerballiance states that it is working with its service provider to strengthen its security measures and prevent further incidents.
