The Regional Health Agency (ARS) is launching an emergency vaccination campaign in the Bièvre region of Isère starting Monday after detecting a measles cluster. Twelve confirmed cases were recorded between March 12 and 27, including among students at the Côte-Saint-André agricultural high school. The ARS, which quickly alerted elected officials and schools, indicates that the infections occurred primarily in school and family settings. To stop the spread of the virus, the agency will prioritize vaccinating students and staff whose vaccinations are not up to date.
Schools at the heart of the system
This campaign will begin next Monday in the directly affected establishments, notably the agricultural high school and the Saint-François Sainte-Cécile Institution in Côte-Saint-André. At the same time, planned school trips will be temporarily suspended to limit the risk of contamination. Measles is currently experiencing a significant resurgence nationwide. Since the beginning of 2025, Public Health France has already recorded 180 confirmed cases, twice as many as last year during the same period. This extremely contagious virus, capable of infecting up to 20 people for a single case, is prompting authorities to reiterate the importance of mandatory vaccination for children born after 2018, while also encouraging adolescents and adults to check their vaccination schedules.
