Starting in October, physiotherapists will be able to conduct appointments offered as part of the "My Prevention Assessment" program. A decree published in the Official Journal extends to this profession a system previously provided by doctors, midwives, nurses, and pharmacists.

Fully covered by health insurance, this assessment lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. It is available to people aged 18 to 25, 45 to 50, 60 to 65, and 70 to 75. These age groups were chosen to detect certain risks related to mental health, addictions, chronic illnesses, isolation, or loss of independence earlier.

A personalized plan sent to the attending physician

Based on a questionnaire completed by the patient, the healthcare professional examines their eating habits, physical activity, and several factors contributing to frailty. They may recommend behavioral changes, suggest further tests, or refer the person to appropriate care. An individualized action plan is then developed and communicated to the patient's primary care physician.

More than 612,000 assessments had been carried out by June 30, 2026, while approximately 20 million French people could theoretically benefit from it. The arrival of physiotherapists should therefore improve the accessibility of a system that is still relatively underutilized. Their expertise in mobility, physical activity, and the prevention of dependency could also strengthen the early detection of difficulties related to aging and chronic diseases.
