Residential care facilities for dependent elderly people will now be required to submit three new indicators annually to the National Solidarity Fund for Autonomy. This obligation stems from a decree published in the Official Journal on Sunday, August 9.
The data will concern the number of medical, paramedical, and socio-educational professionals present with the residents, as well as staff absenteeism and turnover rates. This data must be submitted no later than the last working day of December.
Better inform residents and their families
This information will be published on a website for users. The aim is to allow families to better compare facilities and assess their operating conditions before choosing a nursing home.
This measure comes as several experts warn of the healthcare system's inadequacy in addressing the aging population. A recent report estimates that 350,000 additional places will be needed in nursing homes and geriatric services, while one in four French people is expected to be over 65 by 2030.
