Sevrey is renovating its psychiatric hospital with an investment of approximately 100 million euros.

The extensive modernization project at the Sevrey hospital site, near Chalon-sur-Saône, has reached a decisive milestone with the delivery of two major buildings. This progress marks the end of the first phase of a large-scale investment program dedicated to mental health in Saône-et-Loire, launched in 2023.

The new buildings house several inpatient units as well as administrative, technical and logistical spaces. They already accommodate child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry services, in an environment redesigned to improve patient comfort and the working conditions of the care teams.

A long-term project extending until 2028

Led by the Public Mental Health Establishment (EPSM 71), the site's transformation represents a total investment of nearly €100 million over five years. Following this initial phase, work will continue with new buildings starting in 2026, the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure, and a complete overhaul of the technical and energy networks.

Ultimately, the Sevrey site is to become a completely renovated hospital complex, better suited to contemporary psychiatric practices and the future needs of the region. This major project aims to sustainably strengthen mental health care services, benefiting both patients and the more than 1,100 professionals working in the department.
