HEALTH - A simple trick to calm your mind and speed up your sleep

Millions of people worldwide suffer from sleep disorders, and studies show that insomnia has become a growing health concern.

In this regard, Dr. Joe Whittington, a renowned American emergency physician, shared a simple technique called "follow infinity." He explains that this method activates the body's balance system and sends a direct signal to the brain indicating that it's time to relax.

In a video he posted on TikTok, Whittington explained that simply raising your finger in the air and following the infinity symbol (∞) with your eyes, without moving your head, stimulates the vestibular system inside the inner ear. This helps calm excessive nervous activity that prevents sleep.

He explained that when you move your eyes in this way, you trick your body into thinking you're calm, even if you're not. This helps you relax in seconds.

Some experts compare this method to a treatment called eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), used to treat psychological trauma, which relies on stimulating the brain with repeated eye movements or rhythmic tapping.

The video has racked up thousands of views, and many users expressed their satisfaction with the results, even before falling asleep. One wrote: "I was doing this instinctively without understanding why... Now it makes sense!"

Given the correlation between lack of sleep and serious health problems such as obesity, heart disease, and a weak immune system, this simple technique appears to be a promising option that can be tried easily and without side effects.
