RTL is changing its programming this Wednesday, August 12th, for a special broadcast dedicated to the wildfires that struck France this summer. Since 9:15 a.m., Julien Courbet has been on air to give a voice to the volunteers and ordinary citizens who participated in fighting the fires and providing assistance to those affected. The presenter is continuing his efforts, which began in the early days of the major fires that particularly impacted the Gironde region. After dedicating previous programs to firefighters and victims, he now wants to highlight those who worked behind the scenes.

During this special broadcast, Julien Courbet gathers testimonies from people who spontaneously came to lend a hand during the fires: residents, volunteers, and ordinary citizens who supported the emergency services or helped evacuated and affected populations. "After the firefighters and the victims, it's time to give a shout-out to all the volunteers and all the ordinary people who helped fight the fires throughout France and came to the aid of those affected ," announced RTL. The program honors "these ordinary people who mobilized alongside the firefighters" and who, "each in their own way, contributed to the fight against the fires . "

Julien Courbet's mobilization comes after a particularly harrowing experience this summer. On July 23, while on vacation in Lège-Cap-Ferret, in the Gironde region, the television host decided to leave with his family as the fire spread. "This morning, when we woke up, there was a huge cloud of smoke, and ash was starting to settle everywhere ," he recounted. Faced with the situation, he ultimately preferred to leave. "I started to get a little scared, and in that situation, you think about getting your family to safety. Besides, if they decide to evacuate Cap-Ferret during the night, the fewer people there are to evacuate, the easier it will be for the firefighters. The best thing to do was to leave ," the host explained. A few days later, on July 29, Julien Courbet had already interrupted his vacation to exceptionally return to the RTL airwaves from Arcachon and dedicate a program to the fires. Another special program was also organized on August 4.
A charity concert organized on August 27th
Julien Courbet's commitment will continue at the end of the month. Along with Pascal Obispo and Éric Jean-Jean, he is helping to organize a major benefit concert for the victims of the recent fires. The event is scheduled for Thursday, August 27th at the Arkéa Arena in Floirac, near Bordeaux. It will be broadcast live on M6 and RTL. Julien Courbet will co-host the evening with Éric Jean-Jean and Élodie Gossuin. Numerous artists have confirmed their participation, including Pascal Obispo, Zazie, Renaud, Julien Clerc, Gaëtan Roussel, Gauvain Sers, Axel Bauer, Jeanne Mas, Superbus, Bénabar, -M-, Héléna, and Ycare. The 10,000 tickets for the concert sold out within hours. The profits from the operation must be donated to the Fondation de France to help fire victims across the country.
Having witnessed firsthand the progression of the flames in Gironde, Julien Courbet is taking numerous initiatives. This Wednesday morning, RTL is exceptionally giving him airtime to highlight those who, far from the cameras, participated in the solidarity efforts during the fires.
