Radio ratings: France Inter leads, RTL declines, Fun Radio struggles, Nova a hit

The 2025-2026 season ends with mixed results for French radio. Audience figures for the April-June 2026 period are due to be officially released Friday morning by Médiamétrie, but initial trends confirm, according to Le Parisien, an overall erosion of the medium. The entire FM network gathers 37,6 million listeners every day, which is 10,000 fewer than a year earlier.

France Inter remains the leader, but falls below 7 million

France Inter retains its top spot, with 6,9 million daily listeners. The public radio station remains well ahead of its competitors, but it ends the season with a decline, losing 90,000 listeners year-on-year. This drop brings it below the symbolic 7 million listener mark.

RTL second, Franceinfo third

RTL retains second place with 4,9 million daily listeners, but the station has lost 240,000 listeners over the past year. Franceinfo follows in third place with 4,7 million listeners, a slight decrease of 30,000. The top three stations therefore remain unchanged, but none of them have seen any growth over the period.

Nova is a hit

Radio Nova has recorded the strongest growth at the end of the season and has become the tenth most listened-to radio station in France. Boosted in particular by the arrival of Guillaume Meurice, the station now boasts over 2 million daily listeners. Its increase reached 1,2 million listeners in one year, a spectacular rise in a market that is generally declining. Nova has thus emerged as the big winner of this wave, while several established stations have either declined or stagnated.

NRJ falls, Nostalgie declines, Skyrock holds its ground

NRJ ranks fourth with 3,7 million daily listeners, but suffers a net decrease of 400,000 listeners. Nostalgie comes next with 3,2 million listeners, down 200,000. Skyrock reaches the same level, with 3,2 million listeners, but the station has gained 50,000 listeners over the past year.

RMC is down slightly, Europe 1 is progressing slowly

RMC ranks seventh with 2,7 million daily listeners, a decrease of 25,000. Europe 1 comes in just behind with 2,6 million listeners, gaining 20,000 listeners over the past year. The station thus continues its moderate growth, without significantly altering the overall rankings.

Musicals are holding their own.

The contrast between radio station categories is stark. Music stations attract 17,5 million listeners daily, an increase of 600,000 year-on-year. They have reached their highest level since the end of 2023. Conversely, general-interest stations have fallen to 16,7 million listeners, a loss of 400,000, their lowest level ever. Thematic stations have climbed to 8,2 million listeners, an increase of 250,000, a record for the end of the season.

Fun Radio in trouble

Fun Radio ends the season in a precarious position. The music station's daily listenership has fallen to 1,7 million in the latest ratings period, a drop of 100,000 listeners year-on-year. This result marks the lowest April-June ratings period in its history. Adding to the station's bleak outlook, Fun Radio has now been overtaken by Radio Nova, despite the latter previously holding a much smaller share of the national radio landscape.
