Raphaël Glucksmann proposes to increase the remuneration of all teachers by at least 10% if he wins the 2027 presidential election. The Social Democratic primary candidate then plans additional increases adapted to seniority and career progression.
Some increases could reach 25%, particularly for primary school teachers in the middle of their careers. The head of Place Publique estimates the total cost of this measure at six billion euros.
Smaller class sizes and greater diversity
Raphaël Glucksmann also wants to use the declining student population due to demographics to reduce class sizes. This measure aims to gradually bring France closer to European countries where teachers work with smaller groups.
The MEP intends to strengthen social diversity in all publicly funded institutions, including private schools under contract. His program will be presented during the primary elections held on October 9 and 10, and then again on October 16 and 17, notably against the First Secretary of the Socialist Party, Olivier Faure.
