Donald Trump announced Friday the revocation of Joe Biden's access to classified information, a practice usually granted to former presidents to keep them informed of sensitive matters. On his Truth Social network, the Republican president declared that it was "not necessary" for his predecessor to continue receiving this information, concluding his message with a scathing: "JOE, YOU'RE FIRED."

The move comes as Donald Trump has been back in the White House for less than three weeks. He says he is simply returning the favor. Joe Biden, which revoked his clearance in 2021 due to his "inconsistent behavior" during the Capitol assault. Trump's announcement also comes as Biden's memory was publicly questioned by a special prosecutor, who described him as an "older man with a bad memory" during an investigation into the withholding of classified documents.

Ironically, Donald Trump himself had been indicted for keeping classified documents, including military plans and information on nuclear weapons. However, since his presidential victory in November, the case has been dismissed, reinforcing criticism of the political instrumentalization of justice in the United States.
