Far-left commentator Anasse Kazib has officially announced his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election under the banner of Révolution Permanente. This entry into the campaign comes at a particularly delicate time, as the SUD Rail union leader faces several legal proceedings, including one concerning racist remarks he made against journalist and entrepreneur Radouan Kourak.
Aged 39, the former commentator on the RMC radio show "Les Grandes Gueules" intends to defend what he presents as a "working-class, communist, and revolutionary candidacy." Having already run for president in 2022, he failed to obtain the 500 endorsements required to participate in the election, gathering only around 160 signatures from elected officials.
This time, his Permanent Revolution movement claims to have a stronger foothold with several dozen mayors. Born from a split with the New Anticapitalist Party, the Trotskyist party seeks to establish itself within the radical left, while regularly criticizing La France Insoumise for having distanced itself from the concerns of the working class.
But this nascent campaign could be hampered by several controversies. Anasse Kazib, in particular, must appear in court in a case of condoning terrorism related to his statements following the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023. Another case concerns remarks he made in 2025 against Radouan Kourak.
In June 2025, the activist sparked outrage after calling the journalist a "floor-licking Arab" on social media. He also implied that Radouan Kourak's financial success, wealth, and entrepreneurial career were the result of a form of subservience. These statements were denounced as racist, leading to a civil suit for public racist insult.
Known for his numerous television appearances, Radouan Kourak regularly defends patriotic positions and asserts his attachment to France, its identity, security, and the authority of the State. He readily presents himself as a "passionately French" Frenchman.
On June 2, the day after Anasse Kazib's candidacy was announced, he reacted on the social network X. "Anasse Kazib, a far-left racist, will soon have to answer to the justice system for his remarks against me, especially when he called me a 'token Arab'. It is unbearable for him that a Frenchman named Radouan can passionately love France and defend it," he wrote.
As Anasse Kazib attempts to establish himself within an already deeply divided radical left, his opponents believe his legal troubles and past statements could quickly overshadow his political platform. His campaign thus begins under the shadow of controversy.
