Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, deputy for Essonne and president of Debout la France, announced this morning on CNews his support for the RN-LR coalition. During his speech, he declared: "I say 'well done to Eric Ciotti, I support him with all my heart because I know what he is going through at the moment.' Dupont-Aignan was referring to Eric Ciotti, president of the Republicans (LR), who recently concluded an agreement with the National Rally (RN) of Jordan Bardella and who has since had all the executives of his party on his back. He welcomed this initiative, affirming that LR is finally moving beyond ambiguity.
According to Dupont-Aignan, the disastrous record of Emmanuel Macron and the threat of a victory for La France Insoumise, as part of the Popular Front, require a union of all patriots. He thus expressed his commitment to bringing together patriotic forces to counter what he considers to be a danger for France.
Three Political Blocs Present
Dupont-Aignan identified three distinct political blocs in the current landscape:
- The Pro-Macron Bloc : Those who wish to continue with Emmanuel Macron, despite what he describes as a “fiasco”.
- The Left Bloc : A radical left coalition, supported by François Hollande, which includes La France Insoumise.
- The French Reconstruction Block : That of the National Union, which he calls for actively supporting.
He called for support for the National Union candidates and announced the withdrawal of the 477 Debout la France candidates for the legislative elections, in order to favor this coalition. Dupont-Aignan clarified that Debout la France will present some candidates in constituencies where this would not endanger the coalition.
Call to François-Xavier Bellamy
Dupont-Aignan also launched an appeal to François-Xavier Bellamy, recently appointed co-president of the Republicans after the exclusion of Eric Ciotti by party executives, to join this national reconstruction bloc. He expressed his hope that Bellamy would join this initiative to strengthen the National Union.
