Nathalie Arthaud rejects the idea of a "republican front" against the National Rally in 2027

On Sunday, Nathalie Arthaud refused to join a "block" strategy against the National Rally for the 2027 presidential election. During the launch of her campaign in Presles, the spokesperson for Lutte Ouvrière denounced what she called an "electoral circus", believing that elections do not allow, in her view, for a real fight against far-right ideas.

The Trotskyist candidate accused the current government of having already adopted some of the themes defended by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, specifically targeting migration policies implemented in recent years. Nathalie Arthaud denounced police checks that she likened to "raids" on public transport and criticized the administrative difficulties faced by foreigners in renewing their residence permits.

A campaign openly embraced as revolutionary

While some of her positions on immigration and social issues may align her with other left-wing groups, Nathalie Arthaud was keen to emphasize her differences with La France Insoumise and the French Communist Party. According to her, these parties primarily seek to manage the current economic system, whereas Lutte Ouvrière advocates for a radical transformation of society.

Running for president for the fourth time, Nathalie Arthaud also acknowledges that her campaign aims primarily to spread her party's ideas rather than seize power. She notably advocates for "the expropriation of the upper class" and the communalization of the means of production, in a vision she presents as openly revolutionary.
