The Court of Justice of the Republic has dismissed the case against Aurore Bergé in the investigation into possible perjury before a parliamentary inquiry into private daycare centers. The judges determined that the investigation had failed to establish that the minister had lied under oath regarding her relationship with a lobbyist in the sector.
This decision follows the public prosecutor's recommendations and brings to a close proceedings initiated to determine whether the government member had deliberately withheld information during her hearing before parliament. The Court of Justice of the Republic has jurisdiction to try ministers for offenses committed in the exercise of their duties.
The minister is demanding rehabilitation
Following this decision, Aurore Bergé welcomed the recognition of her version of events. In a statement, she affirmed that she had "always told the truth" and considered that this decision put an end to several months of questioning her integrity.
Through her lawyer, the minister also indicated that she reserves the right to take legal action against those who continue to question her integrity despite the dismissal of the case by the Court of Justice of the Republic.
