Thursday July 18, during the vote to appoint the President of the National Assembly, several deputies from La France Insoumise (LFI) engaged in provocative behavior against the youngest member of the Assembly, the RN deputy Flavien Termet. LFI deputies, such as Sébastien Delogu and Louis Boyard, refused to shake his hand, displaying provocative gestures.
Reactions and condemnations
The president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, reacted strongly by denouncing the “indignity from the first day” and the “sectarianism” of the LFI elected officials. Bardella criticized these attitudes as importing a “scum culture” into the chamber, which, according to him, damages the institutions.
Jean-Philippe Tanguy, RN deputy, also condemned these gestures, describing the behavior of the left as “pignouferie”. On BFMTV, Eric Ciotti supported Jordan Bardella, affirming that certain LFI deputies are “dangerous”.
