Gabriel Attal believes that Marine Le Pen's conviction is already diverting the presidential campaign from the real issues.

The Renaissance candidate for the 2027 presidential election, Gabriel Attal, stated on Thursday that the campaign was already being hampered by the legal consequences of the conviction of Marine Le PenInvited on RTL, he regretted that it was turning into a "legal chronicle" to the detriment of substantive debates on the future of the country.

According to the former Prime Minister, "the presidential campaign that is now beginning has become a series of legal proceedings rather than a discussion of substance and vision for the country." He added that this situation "is already wearing thin with the French people," calling for the debate to be refocused on the concrete concerns of voters.

Attal wants to defeat the National Rally "at the ballot box"

Gabriel Attal also criticized Marine Le Pen's attacks on the judiciary following her conviction on appeal in the National Front parliamentary assistants case. "The French spend their time explaining to their children that they must respect the rules, respect the law, and not cheat," he declared, accusing the National Rally leader of attacking judicial decisions and engaging in a form of intimidation against the judicial system.

The secretary general of Renaissance stated his intention to "defeat the National Rally at the ballot box, fairly and squarely," by comparing his platform with that of Marine Le Pen's party. He indicated that he would structure his campaign around four priorities: education, wages, borders, and artificial intelligence.

A Toluna Harris Interactive poll conducted for RTL and M6 gives Marine Le Pen 35% of the vote in the first round of the 2027 presidential election. Gabriel Attal is polling at 8%, behind Édouard Philippe (14%) and Jean-Luc Mélenchon (16%). Faced with this situation, he calls for a rallying of the central bloc before the vote in order to avoid a second round pitting the National Rally against La France Insoumise.
