Gabriel Attal believes that a simple alliance between the right and the center will not allow him to win the 2027 presidential election. The former Prime Minister wishes to bring together personalities from different political sensibilities around a project that he presents as liberal on the economic level and firm on issues of security, justice and authority.
A strategy beyond the central bloc
Appearing on LCI, the Renaissance candidate stated his desire to bring together leaders from both the left and the right. Without directly naming his rival Édouard Philippe, he deemed a strategy based solely on rapprochement between the right and the center insufficient, arguing that the country's challenges require a broader coalition.
Gabriel Attal also recounted his political career, which began in the Socialist Party, explaining that he had always sought to reconcile economic freedoms with individual and societal liberties. He asserted his pro-European commitment and progressive stance on social and climate issues, while also advocating a firmer position on immigration, security, and justice.
Finally, he opposed the plan to create migrant detention centers outside the European Union, currently under discussion at the European level. According to him, the experiences carried out, particularly in the United Kingdom and Italy, have proven costly and ineffective, and he believes this solution does not address the challenges of migration.
