Gabriel Attal takes another step in his journey towards 2027 with the upcoming publication of As a free manThis book, both political and personal, is clearly part of a pre-campaign strategy. The former Prime Minister intends to outline his vision for France while undertaking numerous trips and meetings, following a schedule already structured around rallies and a major gathering planned for the end of May.
In this book, the Secretary General of Renaissance reflects on his time at Matignon and the dissolution of the National Assembly in 2024, which he describes as a decision with far-reaching consequences. He also develops a critical analysis of how institutions function, referring to a democracy that has become a "vetocracy," where gridlock is rampant and hinders public action.
A political positioning in progress
Gabriel Attal seeks to distinguish himself in a political space still dominated by Édouard Philippe within the central bloc. He defends a project based on "hope" and social mobility, while rejecting the confrontational logic that he attributes to both Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the National Rally.
The former head of government also outlined some policy proposals, particularly regarding pensions, advocating for a model that incorporates a funded component. However, his presidential ambitions remain contingent on his ability to unite the Macron camp itself, where several figures may also harbor their own ambitions for 2027.
