Marine Le Pen declared on Saturday her support for adopting a 2027 budget, even if it remains imperfect, rather than resorting to special legislation. Meeting with National Rally parliamentarians in Le Touquet, the leader of the RN deputies believes that a budget passed in the fall would allow, should she win the 2027 presidential election, for easier adjustments to budgetary choices once in power.
The nationalist leader, however, does not intend to unconditionally support the government's plan. While the National Rally's position could be decisive for the bill's passage in Parliament , she rules out any "blank check" and demands, in particular, that savings be incorporated into the budget. She also sets two red lines: no tax increases and no measures she considers unfair to workers.
The National Rally at the heart of budget negotiations
This stance once again places National Rally (RN) MPs at the heart of the discussions expected this fall surrounding the budget bill. Marine Le Pen therefore favors the existence of a genuine budget, even if she considers it unsatisfactory in certain respects, rather than a temporary solution that would leave the country operating under a special law.
In the event of a change of government after the presidential election, this strategy would, according to her, allow the future executive to more easily take over the text and introduce its own direction. Until then, the National Rally intends to influence the budget's content by making its potential support conditional on budget cuts and the rejection of any tax increases.
