Anne-Sophie Frigout, a National Rally (RN) elected official, claims she was targeted during a CNEWS report in Reims.

National Rally MEP Anne-Sophie Frigout announced that she was attacked during a filming session with the CNews channel in a neighborhood of Reims. According to the elected official, several individuals insulted her and threw projectiles at her while she was there to discuss security issues in the city.

The incident reportedly took place in the Wilson district, where a television crew was accompanying the politician for a news report. Anne-Sophie Frigout claims that about ten people gathered around the filming location before the situation escalated. A complaint has been filed, and the public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation for "insults and violence against a person performing a public service."

An increasingly tense political climate

A rising star in the National Rally (RN) in the Marne department, Anne-Sophie Frigout was a candidate in the 2026 Reims municipal elections after serving as a member of parliament and then a member of the European Parliament. For several months, she has been leading a campaign focused on issues of insecurity and urban violence in the Champagne city.

Growing political tensions surround the movements of elected officials and media teams in certain sensitive areas. In recent months, several political leaders have denounced violence targeting public representatives during reporting trips or field visits.
