VIDEO – “People don’t need Mbappé to know who to vote for”: Marine Le Pen responds to the French national team captain

New episode in the long-distance clash between Kylian Mbappé and the National RallyWhen questioned by Thomas Sotto, Marine Le Pen reacted to the remarks of the French national team captain, who had once again spoken out in Vanity Fair on the French political climate and the rise of the RN. In this interview, Mbappé defends the idea that a footballer, even an international star, remains first and foremost a citizen concerned about what is happening in his country.

On air, Thomas Sotto introduced the topic by reiterating the player's very clear stance: "Living together, understanding each other, accepting each other, it's not simple, Marine Le Pen. And there's one person who won't vote for you, he reiterated that to Vanity Fair, and that's Kylian Mbappé." The journalist then quoted the captain of the French national team: "I know what it means and what consequences it can have for my country when people like them come to power."

Then Thomas Sotto asked Marine Le Pen the question directly: "What do you say to him?"

Marine Le Pen : "Let him continue. That suits me fine."

Marine Le Pen chose irony, declaring:“Kylian Mbappé… When he says we’re not going to win the elections, it reassures me, because he left PSG for Real Madrid saying it was to win the Champions League. Well, in the meantime, PSG won the Champions League.” So, all in all, when he says, “I don’t want the National Rally to win the elections” or “The National Rally isn’t going to win the elections,” let him continue. That suits me fine.

Thomas Sotto then asked Marine Le Pen: "Can he remain captain of the French national team? Can a captain of the French national football team take political stances like that?"

Marine Le Pen's response: "Look, he's free to take his position. I honestly believe that people who love football are quite free to decide who they want to vote for without being influenced by Mbappé."
