Part of the left is calling for a joint project to counter the National Rally in 2027

Around forty left-wing and green elected officials, including Boris Vallaud, Yannick Jadot and Raphaël Glucksmann, have launched an appeal to build a "credible and mobilizing project" for the 2027 presidential election. In an opinion piece published online, they express their desire to oppose the rise of the National Rally, which they believe has been strengthened after the last local elections.

The signatories are concerned about the decline of the left in certain areas, particularly rural and suburban regions, and denounce a sense of resignation in the face of the rise of the far right. They believe that simply criticizing the National Rally (RN) is no longer sufficient and call for a political alternative capable of uniting a broad coalition.

A call to rally without a defined strategy

Without deciding on the nomination of a joint candidate, the elected officials are advocating for the development of a project "with a majority focus" and a team capable of implementing it. Their initiative comes amid persistent divisions among left-wing parties, particularly regarding the strategy to adopt for 2027.

Meanwhile, initiatives are multiplying within this political camp. Discussions are underway to define a shared programmatic foundation, while several political figures are beginning to position themselves for the next presidential election, suggesting an internal competition that is still open.
