Persistent disagreements over Iran
Diplomatic relations between Brasilia and Washington have been turbulent in recent months. Numerous differences remain, particularly regarding the conflict in Iran, where the two capitals advocate radically different approaches. Their first official meeting took place last October in Malaysia, in an already cordial atmosphere that contrasted sharply with the diplomatic tensions between the two nations.
The Brazilian president expressed confidence in the upcoming presidential election in October. He believes Donald Trump will have "no influence whatsoever" on the vote, dismissing any possibility of American interference. This statement comes as Lula seeks another term amid a tense political climate in Brazil.
