A former yoga instructor who worked in Troyes has been charged with rape, sexual assault, and abuse of vulnerable women. Aged 74 and now retired from teaching, he had been placed under judicial supervision in November 2025. Some of the alleged offenses date back to 1998.
At least five women are among the alleged victims, one of whom was a minor at the time of the events. The man is being prosecuted for rape and sexual assault by a person in a position of authority, sexual assault of a minor over the age of 15, and abuse of a vulnerable person.
The possibility of cult-like influence is being investigated.
Former students claim that the alleged assaults were presented as therapeutic practices associated with yoga. Described by some close to him as a charismatic figure, even a "guru," the teacher may have exerted some form of control over the women who frequented his center, a hypothesis that the justice system is not ruling out.
The case involves several proceedings initiated following complaints filed in different regions of France. The former teacher is prohibited from contacting the complainants while the investigation continues. His lawyer declined to comment on the case, and his client remains presumed innocent of the charges against him.
