Passenger transport: G7 headquarters raided following a complaint from Uber, accused of unfair practices

The French Competition Authority conducted a surprise raid and seizure on Tuesday at a private passenger transport company suspected of anti-competitive practices. The authority confirmed the operation but did not name the company.

According to a source close to the case, the company in question is G7 taxis. Around thirty agents reportedly went to its offices following a complaint filed by Uber regarding alleged unfair practices. The platform confirmed it had contacted the regulatory authority, while G7 did not immediately respond.

A dispute over the Uber Taxi service

The dispute concerns the Uber Taxi service, which allows taxi drivers to use the app to provide rides at the regulated taximeter fare. Uber contests the ability of certain taxis affiliated with G7 to operate simultaneously through its platform.

The Uber Taxi service claims approximately 4,000 registered taxis in the Paris region and has recently expanded to other cities such as Dijon and Rennes. Uber has not disclosed the commission rate applied to these rides, stating only that it is lower than that charged on trips made by its private hire drivers.
