Alleged attack plot in Sarcelles: six men brought before anti-terrorism court

Six men suspected of involvement in a planned attack in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise) are to be brought before anti-terrorism judges on Saturday, following their detention. This procedure is part of the investigation opened by the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) after the discovery, on July 11, of a vehicle containing weapons of war near a synagogue in the town.

The case began following a report from the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI). Law enforcement officers found a stolen car parked near a movie theater complex and a few hundred meters from a synagogue. Inside, they found, among other things, a Kalashnikov-type assault rifle, a Beretta pistol, and several magazines. Approximately 300 people were evacuated as a precaution.

An investigation led by the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office

Following this discovery, the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) opened an investigation for terrorist conspiracy to commit crimes against persons, as well as for the transport, possession, and acquisition of weapons in connection with a terrorist enterprise. The investigation is being conducted by the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI), the Anti-Terrorist Sub-Directorate (SDAT), the National Directorate of the Judicial Police, and the Val-d'Oise police.

The six suspects must now be brought before anti-terrorism magistrates, who will decide on any charges and the subsequent legal proceedings. Investigators are particularly focused on establishing each individual's precise role and determining whether an attack was imminent.

At this stage, the authorities have not publicly released the suspects' identities or motives. The exact circumstances of the alleged attack are still being established, and the investigation continues to determine potential targets, accomplices, and the origin of the weapons found in the vehicle.
