Panazol: A couple taken into custody after Islamist threats

A couple was arrested Wednesday in Panazol, a town in the Haute-Vienne department. A 45-year-old woman and her 53-year-old husband were taken into custody after sending an alarming email containing Islamist threats. The incident comes just days after another alert in the same town, related to the disappearance of a diabetic teenager, which had mobilized the authorities.

A diabetic teenager found safe and sound

The town of Panazol was indeed the scene of an Amber Alert last Monday. Rayan, a 13-year-old boy with diabetes, had been abducted from his foster home. The teenager thankfully returned safe and sound to his home on Tuesday at midday. Three of his relatives were taken into custody in connection with this separate case.

The mayor of Panazol expressed his relief after the return of young Rayan, whose condition required urgent medical attention. The two incidents, although occurring just days apart in the same town, do not appear to be related, according to available information. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
