On Thursday morning, around 9:30 a.m., Neuilly-sur-Seine awoke to a sudden, violent shock. A 51-year-old man had been shot on Boulevard Victor Hugo, in the middle of the street. Hit in the head, he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died shortly afterward. The swift and brutal scene brought the neighborhood to a standstill while initial investigations and interviews were conducted.
An execution just steps away from a sensitive site
Just a few minutes away is a site belonging to the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI), on the Levallois-Perret side, a detail that has not gone unnoticed by local residents. According to initial reports, two individuals on a scooter fired shots at close range before fleeing towards Levallois. At this stage, no arrests have been reported, and the investigation is still determining the exact circumstances of the incident, whether it was a settling of scores, a targeted attack, or a criminal act.
Behind the victim, the shadow of a criminal past resurfaces. The man is believed to be Éric Robic, a name already mentioned in the Lee Zeitouni case—the young Israeli woman fatally struck by a car in Tel Aviv in 2011—and known to police for fraud cases, including carbon tax fraud. He is also suspected of participating in a car-leasing scam ring based on fake advertisements, fraudulent wire transfers, and false invoicing. The question now is what led to the close-range shooting that morning and what ramifications this death might uncover in the coming days.
