A police operation conducted in Le François, Martinique, led to the arrest of a man and the seizure of narcotics and weapons as part of a drug trafficking investigation. The operation took place on April 9 with the support of several units, including the GIGN (National Gendarmerie Intervention Group).
Law enforcement targeted a shed identified as a supply point for users. During the operation, a suspect attempted to flee but was quickly subdued by officers.
A significant amount of equipment was seized during the search.
A search of the premises led to the discovery of more than 5,7 kg of cannabis, as well as three handguns and several dozen rounds of ammunition. According to investigators, the seized items confirm the existence of a structured drug trafficking operation.
Brought before the court, the suspect was placed in pre-trial detention pending his trial scheduled for May 18. Already subject to judicial restrictions, he will have to answer for charges including drug possession, carrying prohibited weapons, and violating previous court orders.
