The Marseille prosecutor's office on Tuesday requested prison sentences of 23 and 24 months for two officers from the night shift of the emergency response unit, who are being prosecuted for violence committed while off duty. The incident occurred in the summer of 2025 at a snack bar in the city center, where a waitress and several customers were violently attacked.
According to the prosecution, the two officials, who were drunk, behaved outside of any legal framework, hitting the waitress and then customers who intervened to protect her. The young woman had been thrown against a shop window and had suffered several injuries, resulting in five days of total work stoppage.
A criminal record scrutinized at the hearing
In court, the defendants partially admitted to the violence. CCTV footage shown in court depicted a particularly brutal scene, during which one of the police officers used a telescopic baton. The prosecution insisted that the two men had acted under the guise of their status, without authorization.

In addition to prison sentences, she requested a three-year ban on holding any public office and on carrying a firearm. The criminal court will deliver its verdict on February 11.
